I think I have read more books in the past 4 months than I have in the past 4 years and it is great! I took a literature class last quarter and it really got me wanting to read great books again - something I haven't enjoyed doing for years.

So here's a list of books and stories I've read so far this year. Feel free to post your favorite reads as a comment.

January - March, 2006

Literature:

• The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - an American classic. I can't believe I just read it for the first time!
• Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
• Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker - reading it might drive you crazy but it beautifully details the mundane things in life
• The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri - beautifully written
• The Stories of Eva Luna by Isabel Allende
• The Body by Hanif Kureishi - interesting and slightly disturbing

Audioboks:

• The World Is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman
• Freakanomics by Steven D. Levitt
• The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - a must read (or listen)!

Short Stories:

• Love Is Not a Pie by Amy Bloom - it may change the way you think about love. It did for me.
• Sunny's Blues by James Baldwin
• The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
• Jon by George Saunders
• The Rich Brother by Tobias Wolff
