Japan Reads

It's a amazing how many books you can read on a vacation:

The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger - Freeman, you were right. You completely ruined the beauty of the cheesy novel for me now that I have actually read good literature. The book was so predictable and so poorly written that I skipped the last 1/3 of the book and went right to then end and didn't miss a beat. You can live a very full life without ever have read this book.

Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri - This is a collection of short stories by the woman who wrote one of my favorite books, The Namesake (which has been made into a movie FYI). I'm really starting to enjoy short stories. Especially ones written like these.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand - I liked it. But I definitely need to review the Cliff Notes version of this one because I'm a little lost on the whole philosophy of objectivism.

Enders Game by Orson Scott Card - I really like this one and I'm not really in to Sci-Fi. The power children have to change the world is amazing.

Come To Me by Amy Bloom - This is her first book of short stories and was nominated for several awards. I enjoyed most of the stories. Some of them were a bit disturbing. Still she is a beautiful writer and is somehow able to put on paper in such an eloquent way what most of us think to be mundane.
