Hmmm... it was ok. If you're looking for a mindless and quick summer read before summer is over then I say go ahead. Otherwise, I don't really understand what all the hype over this book is about. It's on 'Staff Pick' lists everywhere which I guess makes it a great read. Again, it was ok. The reviews said it was filled with vivid images and feminine, divine and erotic storytelling. Maybe I missed it. The writing drew little emotion in me. All of the stories within the story felt very disconnected. The dialogue was weak and uneasy. And I didn't get a sense that the protagonist felt deeply about anything. And it was just bizarre and rather unbelievable (mostly attributed to the storytelling). So I would like to respectfully disagree with The Denver Post, Time Magazine, USA Today, Elle and the New York Times Book Review who all seem to have highly positive reviews of this book. I most certainly don't. In short, poor story, poor connection, poor dialogue.
